It is dark. The land is covered by 40 sm of snow. For already half an hour I'm trying to make a suitable place for my tent, using foot as a shovel. The tent pоles cannot get in the frozen gravel beneath and I have to search for stones to tight the ropes. This is how my two-week stay in Lofoten Islands, part of Polar Norway, has started. It is hard to describe winter Lofoten in words - short days, low clouds, snowy vertical peaks, seagulls screaming, waves crashing. All these should be seen and experienced in order to feel the atmosphere of the location. And if you are lucky, I might witness the magic of Aurora Borealis.
